Close to Leudelange in Luxembourg, E.ON Energy from Waste Leudelange erected a custom-made plant for waste incineration with energy production. The Luxembourg industry association for waste SIDOR, which is located in direct proximity to the plant, was the contracting authority for this project.

Start of construction of SIDOR’s new waste incineration plant was in October 2008. In this plant a new incineration line, including turbine system, was built with continued use of single equipment components like the chimney. Upon completion and after the test run, the three old lines where replaced by the new one. As a result, the waste disposal security for the treatment of residual waste of SIDOR's 36 communities – including Luxembourg City - is guaranteed in the long term.

SIDOR’s new plant incinerates up to 150.000 tons of waste annually and thus produces approximately 100.000 MWh of electric power each year.
