Premnitz is situated to the West of Berlin in the Havelland district. The E.ON Energy from Waste Premnitz GmbH is headquartered in the Premnitz industrial and commercial park, operating a single-line circulating fluidised bed incineration (CFBI) plant with a combustion capacity of maximum 100,000 tons per annum and a single-line grate-firing plant (GFP) with a maximum combustion capacity of 150,000 tons per annum.

In addition to these two steam generators, E.ON Energy from Waste Premnitz GmbH also operates a natural-gas fired industrial power plant and extensive steam and water networks in the industrial park.

The industrial and commercial clients based at the location are supplied with electricity, process steam and district heating from these plants. Other energy consumers, for instance a bio-ethanol factory, are planning to settle at the location because of the plant operated by E.ON Energy from Waste. In addition, electricity is fed into the network of E.ON edis.
Both the circulating fluidised bed incineration (CFBI) plant and the industrial power plant with its steam networks were once operated by the energy supply company Energieversorgung Premnitz (EnVP), which E.ON Energy from Waste bought in April 2006. With the purchase, 50 staff were taken over, and about 30 new jobs were created when the grate-firing plant was commissioned in January 2009.
