Site

The site is located on the Sonne industrial and business park, the land of the former briquette factory and the Sonne power station in Großräschen, Freienhufen district. The power station was shut down in 2004 because the coal ran out in the Meuro mine.

Plant

In April 2006 E.ON Energy from Waste took over all partnership interests of the EBS Kraftwerk Sonne GmbH from the Dutch company Koop International and continued the construction of the EBS power station. At the same time 38 employees were taken over by E.ON Energy from Waste. The electricity generated in the power station since 2007 can on average supply 38,000 homes.
